Government Launches Housing Program for Low-Income Families in Puttalam

The government has initiated several programs to address the housing challenges faced by low-income families, with the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) playing a leading role in this effort.

As part of the initiative, construction of three new houses commenced recently in the Kalpitiya Divisional Secretariat area of the Puttalam District. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held in the Mandalakuda and Eththalawe Grama Niladhari Divisions.

The beneficiaries of the program are Mrs. M.S.F. Safinas and Mrs. K. Lashika Nilanthi from the Mandalakuda Grama Niladhari Division, and Mrs. Nilusha Harshani from the Eththalawe Grama Niladhari Division. Each beneficiary will receive a housing grant of Rs. 1 million, amounting to a total of Rs. 3 million, provided by the NHDA to support the construction of their homes.

The event was attended by Puttalam District Member of Parliament Mr. M.J. Mohamed Faisal, Kalpitiya Divisional Secretary Mrs. P.G.S.N. Priyadarshani, along with a number of other government officials.
