Two new houses were constructed recently in the Puttalam District for two families suffering without proper housing.
In line with the government’s new housing program, the foundation stone laying for these houses was carried out under the housing project implemented by the National Housing Development Authority. Accordingly, construction work commenced on the houses of M.F. Asmara of the Karathivu Grama Niladhari Division and T.M. Nadeera Silva of the Samagipura Grama Niladhari Division, both located within the Vanathavilluwa Divisional Secretariat Division of the Puttalam District. The National Housing Development Authority provides Rs. 1 million for each beneficiary to build their house.This housing program is implemented with the aim of reducing housing issues of the poor or low-income earners and alleviating associated poverty.
The occasion was attended by Members of Parliament for the Puttalam District H.M. Gayan Chanaka and M.J.M. Faizal, Vanathavilluwa Divisional Secretary S.M.P. Nandasena, Puttalam District Manager D.A. Priyadarshana, along with several others.
