In line with the current government’s housing program, a special event to distribute housing assistance cheques

In line with the current government’s housing program, a special event to distribute housing assistance cheques to 148 beneficiaries in the Galle District was recently held under the patronage of State Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic Resources, and Ocean Affairs Ratna Gamage and State Minister of Housing T.B. Sarath.

This event, organized by the Galle District Office of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA), was conducted at the auditorium of the Kadawathsatara Divisional Secretariat in Galle.

Under this program, each beneficiary receives a grant of LKR 1 million, provided in five phases, to construct a house. The house must be completed within 90 days.

A total of LKR 182 million has been allocated this year to provide housing assistance to 182 beneficiaries across all 22 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Galle District.

The event was attended by Galle District Member of Parliament Thilanka U Gamage, Galle Mayor Sunil Gamage, Galle Additional District Secretary G.G. Lakshmi Kanthi, Kadawathsatara Divisional Secretary L.N. Piyumali Liyanage, NHDA Chairman Aravinda Sirinatha, NHDA Galle District Manager R. Indika Prasad, along with NHDA staff and several other government officials.

Following the housing assistance program, foundation stone-laying ceremonies were held under the leadership of State Minister of Housing T.B. Sarath for the construction of houses for two low-income families in the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Galle, Baddegama, and Rathgama.
