With the aim of eliminating shanty houses, the first house under the “Sewana 2025” project—constructed with the assistance of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA)—was handed over to a beneficiary family on the 13th of this month (Sunday).

Accordingly, two houses belonging to the Attanagalla Divisional Secretariat Division were handed over on this occasion.

The Authority expects to hand over 15,000 new houses to beneficiaries across the island by the end of this year.

The housing need in the Gampaha District is estimated at around 550,000, and the Authority has allocated Rs. 1 million per beneficiary to complete 250 houses by the end of this year. Out of this, it is expected that 35 houses will be constructed and completed within the Attanagalla Divisional Secretariat Division alone.

Participating in this event were Deputy Minister of National Unity Mr. Muneer Mulafer, Gampaha District Member of Parliament and Attanagalla Coordination Committee Chairman Mr. Ruwan Mapalagama, Chairman of the Attanagalla Pradeshiya Sabha Mr. Darshana Wijesinghe, Attanagalla organizer of the National People's Power Mr. Pubudu Kapuruge, and Chairman of the NHDA Mr. Aravinda Sirinatha.
